Something is in the water. Or the air. Something is different right now.
I know people who are moving (or have moved) from Wisconsin to Portugal with cats, from DC to Brussels with a child, from DC to Switzerland with a younger child, from Virginia to the Florida Gulf Coast for more #LiquidRoadTrip lifestyle and remote work, from Maryland to Florida Gulf Caost for a better lifestyle. And many more.
I know of people who recently bought RVs, fifth wheels, Airstreams, and pimped up camper vans.
People are creating a post-pando nomadland. People are launching kindness and happiness projects. …
Some of the most festive holiday events are Christmas boat parades. Have you ever seen one? Have you ever been in a holiday boat parade?
All of these holiday boat parades are along the US Gulf Coast, and listed in order from Key West, up the Florida Gulf Coast, along the Alabama Gulf Coast, Coastal Mississippi, Louisiana Gulf, and down the Texas Gulf Coast.
Dates listed are for 2020 but certainly check and make sure the event date has not changed or been cancelled before committing to attend.

I just finished a cross-country road trip and paid $290 for a Hertz SUV rental for nine days. Certainly I have paid less for other car rentals, as I explain in this rental car article.
McCool Travel tip: AAA members have pretty good discount codes with Hertz.
But for this trip in September, my initial quote was a shade over $3,000, which was blinding sticker shock. Thankfully I know a lot of tips and techniques to get lower rental car rates.
Here was my basic process and perhaps some of these car rental tips will help you in the future…
All along the Mississippi Gulf Coast there is art wherever you look. The natural setting (beach, sand, blue sky, magnificent oak trees, bayous), public art, street art, art galleries, eclectic architecture, and more.
All of the following photos were taken by me. See my Coastal Mississippi articles for detailed suggestions of things to do, where to stay and eat, and even where to kayak along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
First stop on this visual Mississippi coast tour is Fishbone Alley in Gulfport.
Ocean Springs is the coolest art town in Mississippi and perhaps the entire US South. Downtown Ocean Springs is a phenomenal spot to visit in Coastal Mississippi. Its main street, Washington Avenue, is lined with romantic oak trees, locally owned shops and art galleries, and one of the best restaurants along the US Gulf Coast (Vestige).
The Bay St Louis bridge across St Louis Bay is 2.1 miles long. The road itself is US highway 90 and this area is part of the gorgeous Gulf Coast Scenic Byway.
See also our guide to the absolute best US Coastal Scenic Drives.
The current Bay St Louis bridge opened in May 2007; the previous bridge was destroyed in the Hurricane Katrina storm in 2005.
When walking the bridge from the Bay St Louis entrance toward Pass Christian, you will encounter the (pictured below) landmarks and wonderful art pieces.
On these US coastal scenic drives find the softest sugar sand beaches in the world but also stark rugged cliffs, majestic bridges, and winding roads. Bask under tropical palm trees and massive oaks on beach road trips, be awed by giant redwoods on scenic drives on the west coast, and even shiver in arctic tundra.
This resource of the best scenic American road trips lists 8 favorite classic US Coast scenic drives, followed by coastal scenic drives organized by state (both sections include popular and lesser known coastal road trips), and eventually will comprehensively cover all US coastal scenic drives.
Our fabulous and fun scenic drives in Florida include Tamiami Trail Scenic Highway, A1A, Florida Keys Overseas Highway (best way to drive from Miami to Key West), and many other Sunshine State drives. Discover the real Florida-enjoy Orlando getaways and skip the massive Caribbean cruises ports.
McCool Travel tip: stay off the major roads to experience the best things in Florida.
The following South Florida scenic drive destinations offer outdoor heart-pumping experiences, authentic Old Florida cuisine and culture, and chances to get away from it all and explore different and more naturally enjoyable environments than cruise terminals and traffic packed roads.
Plus I suggest where to find the world’s best key lime pie (you will be surprised).
South Florida scenic drives are welcome anytime during the year but are particularly appealing on crisp late autumn mornings before the snowbirds have arrived. Relax, take it slow, and enjoy the journey. Put down the convertible top, don your favorite sunglasses, and get rolling.
I have taken road trips in all 50 USA states and wrote many road trip articles on McCool Travel, including road trip habits, American road trip food, camping along Big Sur, and Florida scenic drives. One of my favorite secret, lesser known, unique American road trips is the drive along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
